Set in present-day Northern California, the land of big ideas, money, unicorns and glittering opportunity, THE VOYAGER is a comedy-drama that follows Duncan, a budding entrepreneur, ex-husband and father, as he fumbles his way towards turning his dreams into reality.
In the spirit of Curb Your Enthusiasm and High Maintenance, THE VOYAGER is both a character study of a visionary dreamer and a raw, funny story of a guy who finally decides to enter the world just a little on the late side.
Duncan embodies the best and worst of his generation (X). He’s kind, curious, connected to his family and wants to make a difference in the world. He’s also a dad, divorced, something of a slacker, lacking life skills and woefully incapable of effecting positive change in any area of his life. Duncan is a stranger in a strange land; the strange land is his own life.
The good news for Duncan is that he’s finally waking up and growing up. The bad news is that he has frustrated friends and family so profoundly that no one is willing to help him along the way. Duncan has to make the journey from man-child to functional person on his own. He’s an innocent in a world that values cynicism and a neophyte in a social circle of high achievers. But lovable, ever-optimistic Duncan has a plan. A loose plan. He has a business idea that he is committed to seeing through and knows that if he can make it work, all of his relationships will fall into place.
